The Wrekin Local Studies Forum brings together organisations and individuals interested in community history around the Telford and Wrekin area. The Forum meets quarterly to exchange ideas and information and to plan joint ventures. These meetings are advertised in the calendar within this leaflet and any group or individual interested in community, family or local history is welcome to attend and join the Forum’s activities – and if you are a new Group, this is the place to receive lots of advice and enthusiastic support.

The Forum aims to promote interest and active participation in community history by publishing bi-annual leaflets and hosting this website,. Through the mailing list of over 40 contacts, which includes community and family history groups, reminiscence groups, museums, National Trust, archives, libraries and local authorities, the Forum can advertise other relevant opportunities and events.

The Forum also organises at least an annual joint exhibition, of recent years in association with the Wellington Charter Day celebrations. This provides an opportunity for the public to see the wide range of community history interests and to meet the enthusiastic historians active around the Telford and Wrekin area under one roof.

The events, meetings and organisations advertised on these pages are an indication of the popularity of local history in the Telford and Wrekin area. The calendar this year is fuller than ever before, but we know there are more groups and societies out there that are not part of the WLSF.
